No, you cannot call us at the last minute withot prior intmation of your trip plan. Moreover, you may be required to give us occasional location updates so that we can assess the probability of your reaching your destination that day.

Drives in India are plagued with uncertainty due to road conditions, traffic issues, natural problems (like landslides, road closures, etc), changes in your plans, your own inability to reach a destination on time & time overruns. Based on your route & drive plan discussed with us before you start on your drive, we would have already identified suitable hotels, and barring unforeseen circumstances, there is a reasonable assurance that your room will be available without any problem in the pre-identified hotel. However, if it is not, we willmake best efforts to get you a room in an alternative hotel, but there can be no assurance on actually getting it.

We have hotels at over several destinations across India, not at every destination or every highway, but we are rapidly adding more & more new hotels daily. Please check with us about availability of hotels at your chosen destination (s). Even in places where we have no tie ups, we can suggest you places to stay.

Clearing one confusion - if you pay Rs 501, you can take the help of the Central Hotel Desk for upto 5 Nights anytime you drive. The 5 NIghts need not be in 1 trip, it can be across multiple trips. That means, this works out to a fee of around Rs 100 per day per room, but if you take 2 rooms the same day, your costs are halved, for >3 rooms the same day, your costs are less than Rs 25 a day - should you be grumbling?

 Our calculations say that you stand to SAVE significant amounts - because of the better choice of hotels, better choice of end-of-day destination, huge discounts and so on. Example, if you plan to stay at Jalandhar on your way to Srinagar, we suggest you stay at Moga instead - a smaller town, with a superb hotel, at much cheaper prices than a big city like Jalandhar. We ran a check on some of the hotels we have tied up with, travel agents are selling the same hotels at 1.5-2x our prices, so you can expect savings of Rs 5-10,000 per room during a trip lasting 10 days & more.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

 

  1. Connect with 9821045167 on Whats App.
  2. Please ensure that your mobile phones will work through the route and have Whats App enabled in them
  3. You will stick to the agreed route plan
  4. You will keep us informed form time to time during the day of your location
  5. Room will be booked on the spot based on your ability to reach your destination. Rooms will not be booked in advance because of the uncertainties of reaching your destination. Names and booking details will be shared with you at that time. Names of hotels will not be shared prior to booking confirmation.
  6. Most Hotels are priced in the range of Rs 1500 – 2500 (for 2 pax, per day, per room, without food), and most of them have clean toilets, car parking, etc. Do not expect credit card facility, payment will be in cash over the counter in many cases. We cannot give you a choice of hotels.
  7. Once your destination is fixed, room will be booked 1-3 hours prior to your arrival
  8. Details of the booking will be given to you in the Whats App Group. Hotels are under no obligation to hold on to the booking. Hence, bookings are normally made only in the last minute. You are advised to contact the hotel once booking details are given to you.
  9. Wherever there are expected to be data connectivity problems, we will cue you through SMS and/ or voice calls, whenever you come into network. In zone where we expect no or limited mobile connectivity, we will try to brief you ahead and depending on circumstances, room may be booked the previous day 
  10. Please note that CHD takes its last hotel booking at 930 pm. Under no circumstances will any check in be scheduled beyond 1030 pm
  11. No-Show is the biggest sin. Once the rooms are booked, you have an obligation to check into the hotel that you are booked at. In the event of No-Show by you, our Central Hotel Desk services is liable to be withdrawn

Q 1. What is Central Hotel Desk CHD ?

A 1. Central Hotel Desk (CHD) - is a hotel room facilitation service available to members for a small fee.This is specially designed keeping in mind the needs of motorists.

Here is how some of the members see CHD. If you are looking to stay in Hotels - where our members have stayed in, have good experiences - and wish to avail special discounts - and also get privileged service & hospitality. A public service initiative to help people book hotel rooms under any circumstances, 24x7, free of cost. CHD also has paid subscriptions like India 501 plans which help you book hotel rooms pan India up to five days.

Q 2. What's the difference between booking through travel companies and CHD ? Why should I go for CHD ?

A 2. CHD has an unique network of hotels, many of them conveniently located on the HiVays, The hotels are based on the good experiences of members and each comes with a satisfactory rating by them. There is no need for advance planning, except in popular destinations, and rooms will be arranged at short notice while on the road. You will have access to a physical network - and not online - and the CHD functions as your personal Secretariat when you tarvel

Only service that comes with 24x7 helpline which not only helps you over hotel booking but also on your route maps, drive plans and emergency assistance. Only place where you could get hotel rooms booked on the move even till the last minute of availability.

Q 3. In forum itself, our members give different destinations & stay possibilties - then why should I become a member of CHD ?

A 3. The CHD helps consolidate the good stay experiences of members. It talks to the hotels & negotiates good discounts based on the collective bargaining clout of this Forum. The CHD advises where you will stay, books the room & gets you discounts & other privileges.

Members and admins always suggest and help with appropriate hotel names for the stay. But they do not guarantee a room under emergency. Those are just suggestions given for the user to choose from.Only CHD can book hotels on emergency and even if no rooms available they could guide on alternate stay options and arrangements along with the route map and travel plans.

 Q 4. How to become a member of CHD - any amount to be paid ? - any schemes ?

A 4. CHD services are available against buying specific products - such as the India 501 - and also a privilege to Club 12 members. This is a fee-based service where the savings from correct selection of destination, hotel and special prices will pay back several times what you pay as a fee

CHD service is normally free. But has few paid subscription options available for members on specific tour plans. E.g. India 501 plan. You pay just Rs.501 and your booking is taken care of all along your route, based on your travel plan and timings. Rooms are booked on the go and also in advance with no advance payments. All discounts are directly passed to customers and CHD never takes any of the profit. The 501 you pay is just to meet the needs of mobile or telephone bills to be handled all through your route and to co-ordinate with the hotels and rooms along your path.

 Q 5. After becoming a member, When I plan for a travel - what should I do ? Am I suppose to inform my travel plan to CHD as well ? if so, in advance or as I travel ?

A 5. Discuss your travel plans with the CHD so that they can advise you the best places to stay, choices available & prices payable. Remain connected to the CHD during your travel so that your rooms are arranged closer to your time of arrival at the target destination

 It is always advisable to have an advance planning. But emergencies are always taken care of. Members can always book hotel rooms on the go in emergency. Only thing is the discount rates vary based on if its advance booking or on the go booking as rooms booked on emergency always have minimal discounts. But CHD guarantees the members a best possible rate which is always or mostly lesser than market rates or tourist agents’ rates.

 Q 6. When I pay money to Hotel, How much commission CHD will get ? If no commission goes to CHD - what's the object of CHD ? Why should a desk like this support travelers without any financial expectations ?

A 6. Members get wholesale rates or discounted rates whenever they book a room. CHD does not take commissions from hotels. It earns only from the fees charged to the members

The team HVK and CHD are always service oriented and the model is purely based on members helping members. No profit involved. Even the paid subscriptions announced are to meet the minimal telephonic and mobile bill payments which come out as a result of calls made for the hotel booking and travel assistance to that particular member. Not a single member or admin of CHD or HVK group runs his life on this business model. Hence it’s always a zero profit model as assured and will be the same till the end of day, any day.

 Q 7. What's the difference between a CHD forum member and non-CHD forum member, when he/she approaches a hotel ? Is there any differences in price ?

A 7. If you wish to book a room, approach the CHD. Do not talk to the hotel directly. Bookings are made by the CHD in your name. If you approach the hotel directly, that is against the code of conduct

 Q 8. Am I given any ID number by CHD ? If not, How can I prove that I am a CHD member to the Hotel ?

A 8. Once a room is booked, you will be given full details of the booking. Room will be booked in your name. Once you reach the hotel, your room will be ready

No pricing is always the same for any member on a single date at a particular time. No privileged or priority pricing involved.

 Q 9. CHD - is it a single man operation system or is it run by Group of people ? any limited working hours or 24x365 ?

A 9. CHD is run entirely by a team of volunteers who are one among you. Hotel room facilitation services are not required 24 x 7, since most of us reach our target destinations by 10 pm.

Club HVK members are given ID numbers. CHD subscription members has their booking number and that is sufficient. Plus always good to note that this forum or CHD is direct contact model and ID numbers are just for the sake of members satisfactions. Services remain the same and it’s not based on ID numbers.

 Q 10. CHD - is it applicable only inside India ? Will it be able to provide me the same service when I travel abroad ?

 A 10. Currently, CHD is available only in India. Please note that it is tailor-made for motorists, and does not seek to compete with any of the popular travel service companies. It has a select network of hotels based on where the popular demand is, and cannot offer you a hotel in every town in India

 Q 11. In case, If I cancel my bookings, due to unavoidable happenings, How CHD takes it forward to Hotels ? What are the difficulties CHD/Hotel face in this circumstance ?

A 11. Most of the hotel rooms are booked on the spot 30-90 minutes prior to arrival. In case of rooms booked in advance, hotels stipulate payment of advances. In case on No-Show or frivolous cancellations, members will have to pay suitable compensation to the hotel as per their rules and also risk blacklisting for any further services by the CHD

Emergencies are always acceptable. And CHD has its responsibility to explain the hotels the same and make them understand. But no-shows without reasons, and direct booking by members using the brand HVK and then skipping the hotel, always damages the name which is earned by the team HVK and CHD. The name is hard fought one and any single person doing ignorant or such immoral activities is surely to affect the overall tie-up with a particular hotel. Which in turn affects other members who needs a room to be booked around that area.

Q 12. If I book Hotels through CHD in more numbers, how it benefits me, CHD and forum ? Is there more discounts possibility if I use CHD often ?

A 12. The more the number of rooms booked in the hotel, the higher the bargaining strength of the Forum and better the deals for the members. 

Discounts are always market driven. But CHD assures you best possible discounts which are always higher in discount rates than that available in market on any particular day.

 Q 13. Being a member of CHD, can I book hotel rooms for my family members ? Is it only limited to me ? If one of my friends, travels, who is not a member of CHD, will the same support be given ?

A 13. CHD offers a personalised service intended for you, and booking rooms for friends & non-family members is not encouraged

 Q 14. May I pay money through online to Hotels suggested by CHD ? Or is it face to face - direct pay method?

A 14. For all spot bookings, payments have to be made to the hotel over the counter. In case of advance bookings, CHD will advise payment of the monies to the hotels directly

 Q 15. One of my friends comes from Australia. I know all the destinations he plans to travel. I know the CHD tie-up hotels. May I directly ask him to stay as per my suggestions or May I make him understand the concept of CHD and guide him accordingly ?

A 15. The CHD services can be best appreciated by motorists. Please do recommend the CHD services to your friends & relatives, but each will be a separate customer

 Q 16. Is there any personalized rating/feedback form available that can be sent to CHD - after my stay ? If I am not happy about the stay, any possibility of getting my money back ? Will CHD support me in getting my money back ?

A 16. You are encouraged to give feedback on the hotels you stayed in - this will help the CHD rate the hotel, add or delete it from its list. No, if you are unhappy with the hotel, you will have to take up directly with the hotel concerned although CHD will also use its good offices to take up the matter with the hotel concerned.

 Q 17. May I have the freedom to suggest hotels for CHD ? Will I get any commission for this support ? If not, Why should I ?

A 17. The hotels we stayed in are the hotels you will stay in. All the hotels are based on the recommendations of members. This is a collaborative forum of motorists who help each other, and it is your discretion to add value to the Forum by suggesting new hotels

 

Q 18. What about foods ? Will CHD includes the food price in the room price ? Or its a separate 'you pay & eat' method ... 

A 18. CHD arranged the hotel rooms on least-cost basis in most cases - i.e. it negotiates No-Food rates in many cases since that will give the member a choice to eat at the hotel or elsewhere

 

Q 19. I have used CHD few times and I am very much happy about it. I want to be a part of CHD team ? What should I do ?

A 19. The CHD team is comprised of dedicated volunteers who are skilled negotiators, available round the clock & are passionately wedded to the cause. Q 20. A friend of mine works in a travel firm - asks me to reveal the name of hotels discussed in this forum/said in CHD. He is not a member of our forum. May I disclose it ? How it affects our CHD ?

Room will be booked on the spot based on your ability to reach your destination. Rooms will not be booked in advance because of the uncertainties of reaching your destination. Names and booking details will be shared with you at that time. Most Hotels are priced in the range of Rs 1000 – 2500, and most of them have clean toilets, car parking, etc. Do not expect credit card facility, payment will be in cash over the counter in many cases. We cannot give you a choice of hotels.Once your destination is fixed, room will be booked 1-3 hours prior to your arrival. Details of the booking will be given to you in the Whats App Group. Wherever there are expected to be data connectivity problems, we will cue you through SMS and/ or voice calls, whenever you come into network. In zone where we expect no or limited mobile connectivity, we will brief you ahead and depending on circumstances, room may be booked the previous day. No-Show is the biggest sin. Once the rooms are booked, you have an obligation to check into the hotel that you are booked at. In the event of No-Show by you, our Central Hotel Desk services will be withdrawn.

 

Q 24. Is there a list of hotels by state?

A 24. Hotel names are not disclosed because there is a general tendency amongst some members to go direct to the hotels, claim to be HiVayKings & book rooms... any hotel request has to be specifically put up to the CHD

 

Q 25. Can we have a list of locations where CHD has tie-ups? That will help the travelers and at the same time won't have a negative consequence to the operations of CHD in terms of people self booking themselves.

A 25. Locations are already listed in the CHD Page. However, it is best you check with CHD on your preferred location while planning your trip. CHD gives only quotes, never names.

 

Q 26. What about some peak times of the year (Lets say a long weekend or New Year or Diwali)? During such times, if one has a definitive plan, then is it better to book well in advance either through CHD or other mechanisms or CHD can still be counted upon?

A 26. The core competency of the CHD is HiVay hotels, not destination hotels. We have consciously avoiding getting too deep into destination hotels. In all popular destinations, CHD always does advance bookings, every day there are at least 2-5 hotel rooms which are advance-booked
